By volunteering, you help strengthen bonds and foster growth within The Oasis community. You can also contribute by assisting with fundraising events or outreach efforts.

Serve on Our Board of Directors

We are also looking for individuals interested in serving on our Board of Directors. The Board manages the business and affairs of The Oasis on Orangewood, upholding its mission to provide affordable housing and Christian mentorship to individuals in transitional seasons of life.

Board members are vital to our organization and typically hold the following responsibilities:

  • Establishing Vision, Mission, and Purpose: Defining the goals and raison d’être of the organization.
  • Strategic Planning: Participating in the creation and monitoring of long-term and short-term organizational goals.
  • Financial Oversight: Ensuring the financial health of the organization by approving budgets, reviewing financial statements, and safeguarding assets. This also involves ensuring proper internal controls, maintaining financial records, and filing annual tax returns.
  • Fundraising and Resource Development: Actively participating in fundraising efforts, seeking donations, and securing resources to support the organization’s mission and programs.
  • Legal and Ethical Integrity: Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and the organization’s bylaws, while adhering to its stated charitable and religious purposes.
  • Community Liaison and Advocacy: Acting as ambassadors for the nonprofit, promoting its message, and expanding its network of supporters.
  • Board Development: Actively participating in the recruitment of new board members and evaluating the board’s overall performance.
  • Time Commitment: Attending all board meetings and fulfilling duties outside of meetings. Board meetings are held quarterly and include a meal served by the host family.
  • Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Disclosing any financial interest in contracts or transactions considered by the Corporation and abstaining from discussions and votes on such matters.
