Oasis on Orangewood
Safe, Affordable Housing in a Christ-Centered CommunityLocated near West 83rd Avenue and Northern Avenue in Glendale, AZ.
Our Mission: To provide affordable housing and Christian mentorship to those in transitional seasons of life.
Imagine navigating a parched, unforgiving desert. For many in transitional seasons of life, this isn’t just a metaphor – it’s their reality. They arrive feeling isolated, parched for genuine community, desperate for direction, searching for a firm foundation to build their lives upon, and in dire need of support to establish independent lives before being overwhelmed by life’s inevitable emergencies.
Then, they find The Oasis.
The Oasis on Orangewood is more than just a place to live; it’s a spring in the desert. Here, through affordable housing and intentional Christian mentorship, we provide a haven where individuals can find refreshment, direction, and a supportive family-like environment. Our prayer is that, within this community, they not only gain the tools for self-sufficiency but also encounter Christ, if they don’t know Him already, finding the true Living Water for their souls.
What is a Transitional Season?
Life is full of transitions. And they can pop up at any time. Sometimes they are anticipated, and other times these seasons are entirely unexpected. There is never an exhaustive list of transitional seasons, and every person is unique, with their own stories. Here are just some potential seasons of transitions:
- Young adults leaving home and establishing their way
- Job or ministry-related relocation
- Marital separation or divorce
- Missionaries on furlough or returning from the field
- Housing disruptions- loss of housing due to circumstances out of one’s control
- Recovering from destructive life choices and actively seeking God’s will for their life
Grow. Heal. Clarify. Belong.
At The Oasis on Orangewood, we believe in supporting people as they navigate pivotal moments. We will help you grow, heal, and clarify your identity while you further your education, establish a career, develop your ministry, and seek to be all you were meant to be in Christ.
My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places. – Isaiah 32:18 (ESV)
Personal Growth: Discover Your Potential
We all want our lives to count. The Oasis on Orangewood provides a supportive community that models a balance of self-care, service to others, and personal accountability. While the world’s culture often encourages self-focus, Christ’s model calls us to be others-focused, a lesson best learned in community.
Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety. – Proverbs 11:14 (ESV)
This is a place to strengthen your identity and develop a vision for your future. Everyone has a story, and every story matters. We’ll help you integrate faith in Jesus with community living, mentoring, discipleship, and accountability.
Service to Others: Living with Purpose
Within every community, there are needs. Living in a community with a multigenerational component helps us see and serve others in all seasons. We seek to serve those who want to live in a supportive Christian environment and pursue their educational, professional, and ministerial goals.
Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. – Galatians 6:2 (ESV)
Future Vision: Expanding Our Impact
We envision expanding our capacity for community and service. We plan to add hydroponics along the perimeter wall and an aquaponics greenhouse that provides fresh food to the community and neighborhood. As a Christ-centered community, we are called to care for those in need. Providing fresh and sustainable food is just one way we will do so.
We also plan to host a missional community affiliated with Faith Bible Church. This will be one of our critical community rhythms for supporting each other, deepening our faith, and serving our neighbors.
Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. – Hebrews 13:16 (ESV)
